Free Student Membership

For Early Career Educators

Free Student Memberships are available to college and university students preparing to become educators in TESOL, bilingual, and EL education. The MATSOL Board of Directors initiated this new membership program in 2020 to help support early career educators of multilingual learners.

Applicants must be:
  • a new member of MATSOL;
  • a student matriculated in a degree program in a Massachusetts college or university program for TESOL, applied linguistics, education or related field. The student membership is intended for early career educators, not for current educators enrolled in part-time continuing education programs.
Proof of student status is required. Upload a screenshot or document from your college or university showing current enrollment in a degree program. Submissions will be reviewed to ensure they meet the criteria for a student membership.  Documentation submitted must show:
  • Your name
  • Enrollment in a Massachusetts USA college or university
  • Proof of matriculation in a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree program (not continuing education courses)
  • Your expected graduation date
The memberships expire in one or two years, based on anticipated graduation date. After that time, members must renew at the Professional rate
Student Members will be automatically added to MATSOL's Early Career Educators Special Interest Group (SIG) Elist. They may also join other MATSOL SIGs.
